MEET THE KICK-BOXIN’ SENIOR!!

Just had to share this with the world…today I did something I never thought I could do! This is day eighteen of the Food Lover’s Fat Loss System, and it was time to do the 36 minutes kick boxing video.

I watched it for a few minutes and thought, no way. I can’t do that. Kicks, punches, squats, arghhhh. Nope. Still. Maybe give it a try, I can quit anytime, who’s watching???

It turned out to be so much fun I forgot to watch the clock. At first, I kept one eagle eye on the clock at the bottom of the screen…36 became 33.16, then 30.03 and then I forgot all about it.

Whew! Kickin, screamin’ fun! I felt like my old self again! Who said I can’t turn back the years?? 1-2-3-kick! 1-2-3-kick-uppercut uppercut! 1-2-3…etc. I MOVED. I tapped, I kicked, I boxed!

And then came the squats…aggggg…I hate squats…oh it hurts, it hurts, pant pant pant and finally Robert says, two more, one more, stay with me and I think IT’S OVER, NO MORE SQUATS and then he says, now stay with me, one more squat and hold it hold it hold it and finally I can stand up, gasping and panting, I DID IT!!!

We move into the cool down so smoothly I don’t even notice it’s all over bar the shouting. AND, my heartrate is finally up there pounding!

As the video moved along, I noticed how April, she with the fabulous, show-off abs, keeps a big smile on her face and I thought, I betcha if I really tried, well, heck, I betcha I could smile.

I stretched my mouth into a grimace, which was easy at that point, and then molded it into a big smile, making my face feel funny…what was there to smile about?? Then I realized I was having a ton of fun and didn’t want the video to ever end…already I started wondering what I could do after it finished. Get out my Nordic walking poles? Try that straight-up right angle hill on Neil Street?

Why not?

Only I stopped to do this post and let everybody know…

LOOK OUT WORLD…I’M BACK!!

It gives me a place to write, a motivation to write, lots of reasons for reading lots of mind-expanding and challenging books, plenty to think about and be happy about. It has become a centerpiece of my retirement life along with my friends and pets, my faith and my afterlife journeys.

  1. you have great spirit kiddo!! I dance in my living room sometimes, but forget the squats I think, throw a leg up, to music, if at all possible at our age! I think part of it is enjoying movement versus our usual habit of sitting down..seems the body was made to be a’moving. but we’ve lost touch with our bodies and how enjoyable it could be. Never sit at a computer for too many hours.
everything gets real tense in that case. companies with gyms probably have the best workers after all. or healthier. thanks for the good cheer again! LR
